• Getting ready to paint, I ensure that I have my basics tools at hand. My studio is not huge so it is easy to get the things I need.
  • Setup the canvas on the right easel. In this case I use my painting table.
  • Get your basic colors at hand. In this specific case I am going to block out big areas that are too busy, using Liquitex Basics.
  • Ensure your water-spray bottles are filled. For oil painting this would be my linseed oil and turps. For acrylic painting it is water and Liquitex Pouring Medium.
  • Decide on your brushes. I use industrial and 1-2 inch hog hair brushes for blocking out. For detailed work I would then use a finer brush.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation and natural light.
  • Playing your favorite music is a good idea. I usually start with music, but as the day progress I just work in silence. Whatever works for you.
  • Decide to have fun, then do!
